Biggest stories of 2013

Hey there Marvelites, it's been another amazing year in the Marvel Universe as i'm sure you'll all agree. So here at Marvel Intel we thought we'd give you our final blog of the year by rounding up the biggest events, whether it happened in a comic book, at the cinema or even in the gaming world, Marvel was there with all the action.

Without further ado and in no particular order...

Age of Ultron (Comic Story Arc) - "Submit or Perish", his ultimate goal was realised. Months after his return, the artificial intelligence known as Ultron decided to accomplish his goal of destroying humankind by launching a massive and abrupt attack on Earth, taking over the whole planet, killing thousands of innocents and dozens of heroes and villains who stood in his way. Only a few of them are still alive, in a secret refuge under Central Park, ready to reclaim freedom or die trying.

Marvel Heroes - A free-to-play MMO Action RPG developed by Gazillion Entertainment & Secret Identity Studios and launched in the summer, with the expansive library of heroes from the Marvel Universe, including all your favorite Avengers you can team up online with friends and customize your heroes with a library of spectacular powers, costumes, and gear.

All New Marvel Now! - It's starting NOW! This winter saw the start or should I say Re-Start of some of the most popular comics Marvel has to offer. The idea behind the reboot was to give fans (Hard core & newbie alike) a better jumping on point for these comics. Keep following into 2014 to see more popular characters emerge.

New Animated T.V series - This year saw the start of two new animated series, Marvel's Avengers Assemble and Hulk & the Agents of S.M.A.S.H, both of which have rampaged Disney XD

Lego Marvel Superheroes - Featuring an original story crossing the entire Marvel Universe, players take control of their favourite heroes in a bid to stop a host of super villains from taking over the world.

The X-Men's 50th Anniversary - Marvel celebrated the 50th anniversary of the X-Men the only way they know how... with a crossover story of course. Battle of the Atom see's the X-Men of the future travel back to the present to force the All-New X-Men to return to their rightful time, as their mere presence is resulting in disastrous consequences.

Cinematic Universe Phase Two - 2013 also saw the start of Phase Two with the release of Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World. This marks the continuation of Marvel's Cinematic Universe and kept strong the promise that Mr Feige made that "this is only going to get better".

San Diego Comic Con Movie Panel - A lot of Marvely goodness came from Hall H at SDCC this year including a double hitter from Joss Whedon... the title of the next Avengers movie will be call 'Age of Ultron' and attendees were able to see a peak of Iron Mans helmet changing into Ultrons head. The cast and crew of 'Guardians of the Galaxy' and Captain America: The Winter Soldier' both had panels and footage from both films were shown. Also a surprise appearance from Loki himself shocked and excited everyone.

Marvel & NetFlix Announcement - It was announced that Marvel plan to create 4 new TV shows exclusive for the online service Netflix. The shows will start with Daredevil, then expand with Jessica Jones and then Luke Cage, the 3 shows will then tie together to make a Defenders show.

Infinity - While the Avengers join forces with a cosmic armada to repel the Builders, Thanos takes advantage of their absence to lay siege to Earth.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D - The most anticipated T.V event of the year. The saga that began in the Avengers continues on the small screen as we follow Agent Coulson and his team handling the cases that the superheroes don't have to.
